I'd really like to get CS5 and I'm unsure if it will work on my Macbook - my specs are:

MAC OS X Version 10.5.8
Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook4,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 800 MHz

Intel GMA X3100:
Chipset Model: GMA X3100
Type: Display
Bus: Built-In
VRAM (Total): 144 MB

Displays:
Color LCD:
Resolution: 1280 x 800
Depth: 32-Bit Color
Core Image: Hardware Accelerated

Would I be able to install and use CS5? Would it be slow? Any help would be great thanks

System Requirements From Adobe:

Multicore Intel processor

Mac OS X v10.5.7 or v10.6

1GB of RAM

2GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on removable flash-based storage devices)

1024x768 display (1280x800 recommended) with qualified hardware-accelerated OpenGL graphics card, 16-bit color, and 256MB of VRAM
Some GPU-accelerated features require graphics support for Shader Model 3.0 and OpenGL 2.0

DVD-ROM drive

QuickTime 7.6.2 software required for multimedia features

Broadband Internet connection required for online services*

**************

Note that those are minimum requirements. Your MacBook does qualify but CS5 will be slow and probably kludgy due to the integrated graphics your machine uses. Plus you would need to beef up system memory for any kind of decent performance.

Regards.

I have the same exact model but with 4GB of RAM. It runs just fine with integrated graphics.

Yes you can upgrade the memory. There are tons of guides on the internet on how to do it yourself. You just have to look for it.

As for how much...it will probably run around $100 USD. Linky here.

Might help to look at other places like Amazon and Newegg as well.

Just thought of something else - if you install CS5 on one laptop and then get a new laptop can you install it on the new one?

If you mean using it on both machines, then no. You would need to buy another license. If you mean removing it from the old machine and installing it on the new one, yes.

Regards.
