well, here comes the plethora of threads i start about how to use my new iMac... hope everyone doesn't mind putting up with me for a bit until i can figure this out completely.
i was ichatting a little while ago and we were dragging and dropping pictures from the internet and from iphoto into the chat so everyone could see them. does my computer automatically save these images? if so, where? and furthermore if the computer does in fact save these pictures is there a setting where i can opt out of auto saving images? thanks |

I'm not sure about this, but my GUESS would be that the pictures sent to you would be found in your Downloads folder.
You can change this in iChat's preferences. As for "auto-saving," it's doing no such thing. When you "accept" a file, you are manually telling the computer to save it. You don't have to accept the file if you don't want it, but in order to view something it has to be on your computer first (unless you're using iChat Theatre, which maybe you should investigate). |

I think you've answered your own question ... I misunderstood you a bit in your initial post.
Putting a picture "inline" in the chat, no that's not saved. If you send someone a file as you can do with iChat, you have to "accept" the file (separate of the chat) and its downloaded wherever you set as the spot for "received files" in iChat's preferences. Hope that clears it up. |
