Hey guys and girls! (you Mac - cult people you..!)

Welcome me and my new Mac baby!
So happy about it, although I feel somewhat unsecure, my first newborn Mac!
I have been a pc user 27 yrs since my vic 20 at 3yrs age. :p

I have used firefox and AVG, and loved it. Norton made my pc really slow, so I´ve never really used it. What firewall do you guys use? What´s the real security threats to a Mac?

This is just my first stupid question, to be continued ...

Welcome to the forum ... a great place to be.

With regards to your questions about the security threats , and without getting into the detail of risks ( which is diffferent ) I would say:
1) Technical threats to OS X are far less than technical threats to Windows ...
Enjoy your Mac
2) Human threats are the same on any Operating System ...
think before you click, allthough sometimes the mouse is faster than the brain -_-
3) Vulnerabilities in the OS are far less than with windows
keep your OS up to date

So.... the overall risk level is less compared to other OS's

Now ... before you start asking questions on Antivirus and stuff, check the forum and you will find many , interesting visions on this subject.

Relax and enjoy your Mac .... if you apply common sense, you will get a long way.

Cheers ... McBie

A computer lets you make more mistakes faster than any invention in human history - with the possible exceptions of handguns and tequila.
The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude towards the problem. You understand ?
