Safari 5 Help

Just wondering if anyone knows how to completely get rid of safari's recent search feature. The menu gets too big and it gets annoying if i just want to use a different search engine, because of the length it becomes after a few hours of uni research

You can try hitting 'clear recent searches' in the search drop down. It should be right before the alternative search engine choices.
