Hi guys

Just checking my time machine backups. I have 2 of them.

They are both 29.8GB & they are on an external USB 1TB HDD that I have hooked up to my mac.

Is every backup that time machine makes going to be 29+GB

Cheers, hope someone can help.

The size of the backup is going to depend on how much you have on your Mac. As you install more applications and generate more data, the backups will grow accordingly. You can also exclude folders from the backups if you don't need to be able to recover the files in them. I exclude the Downloads folder, and of course my two external drives.

My last backup today was 68.78GB...not that bad considering all the stuff I have installed on my Mac.

I see - thanks for the help!

Time machine will take a backup everyday? 30GB per day is a lot of disc space to have?

Time Machine will make a backup every hour and will include all files that have changed since the previous backup.
You can exclude folders and there is an app. called " TimeMachineScheduler "
Download TimeMachineScheduler for Mac - Set Time Machine interval in Leopard. MacUpdate Mac Software Downloads
that will allow you to change the interval from 1 hour to whatever you want.

Don't want to toot my own horn but this might give you a better idea of how Time Machine works ATPM 15.03 - How To: Time Travel: Introduction to Time Machine I also included some ideas about which files can probably be safely excluded from the backup.
