funky display font problem

Can anyone explain why mac mail and my internet browser replace my default viewing font with this ridiculous font? I have changed my default fonts to no avail. Changed encoding to no avail.

Mac Specs: 20" Intel iMac 2.4 Ghz/3G Ram/320HD, Snow Leopard. PBook G4, 1.5Ghz/1.5 Ram/250 HD, Leopard 10.5.6.

I suspect you have a corrupt font there, though it's odd that it's taken over.
Try Fontnuke:

jamapi.com :: FontNuke - A FREE tool for removing font cache files on Mac OS X

It may sort it, but you may have to manually search it out in your font book and discard it.
