iTunes store won't connect

When I try to connect to the iTunes store, I get this indefinitely:

Then if I click on my username and try to log in I get the whole "Can't connect blah blah blah (-50)" or whatever it is.

I tried some advice about deleting the NetworkPreferences.plist, but it didn't do anything.

Suggestions, please?
