What Are The Best Mac Apps To Have
Hi guys, I will be purchasing a lightly almost new Macbook Pro 17" 2/16 and I am very excited! I have never used Mac before. I have always been a windows user. I have downloaded and read the manual and also played with one at the local Mac store.

Question: What are the best apps I should have for the following?
    -OSx Management
    -Motion fun
    -Any other must have programs

okay, here is my list (just google these for links + instructions):

    - Mac the Ripper + Handbrake [DVD ripping] (both free)
    - Transmission [bittorrent client](free)
    - Microsoft Office 2008
    - Photoshop CS4 or GIMP(free) [image editing]
    - Parallels or VmWare or VirtualBox(free) [if you need to run windows]
    - Hyperspaces(free, $12 for enhanced version, free version is good enough) [great add-on for Spaces]
    - Call of Duty 4
    - OnyX(free) [activiates 'hidden' features + system management]
    - ClamXav(free) [Security. I have never found a virus, so this is a maybe]

much more at Mac Freeware and Free mac Software for OSX

NOTE: After you install all of these, go to Utilities -> disk utility and do a permissions repair. This is the mac equivilant of disk defrag on a PC, except it doesnt take as long. After chain-installing a lot of programs, this will speed up things a lot.
