Problem with SAFARI

For about 50% of the videos I watch on Youtube I have a strange issue with Safari (4.0.4) on OS 10.6.2

The video controls appear as shown in the link below:

This doesn't happen for other browsers and only sometimes in Safari, when this does happen the videos sometimes just download as mp4's without me doing anything.

How can I fix this issue?
