backup recommendations
I used carboncopycloner with 10.3, and probably will with tiger, but i need a backup solution to back up specific directories. i have deja vu, but i can't get it to work. a how to for that would be great.

any freeware apps?

well, deja vu is currently the only one that allows you to save to a specific place, like a folder on an external hd instead of to the hd's main folder.

i'd like to burn it to DVD.

in that case, you'd need an app, deja vu actually, and save it to a folder so that you have the invisible files as well, then create a disk image from that folder and burn that, if it will fit on a dvd, I doubt it unless its a bare bones system and no files or many settings changed, and no apps, and even if you can burn it to a dvd, you cant boot from a dvd.

I use Tri-BACKUP and that does what you want also. It's not free though.
