Hi. You will know that gmail uses labels (kind of like folders) to organize emails. If you access gmail via a web browser, you can create new labels, then assign (i.e., move) individual emails to one or more labels.

I have my Mac Mail linked to gmail. When I use Mac Mail, I can assign emails to existing labels, but I cannot create new labels. Is there a way to create new gmail labels from the Mac Mail interface without having to sign on to gmail via a web browser?

I am on Mac OS X 10.6.2 and Mac Mail 4.2.
