When I set up a Gmail mailbox, Mail (v. 4.2) decided automatically to use IMAP without giving me the possibility to opt for a POP server. Is there any way I can change this?

Thanks in advance for your answers

This guide pretty much says it all. Make sure you have Gmail configured for POP and not IMAP (on the Gmail site itself).

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

Why do you want to use POP? IMAP is much better in my opinion. We are lucky that Google gives it to us for free. I wish Yahoo had it. Even their paid service only allows POP.

I was actually going to ask the same question, but to each his/her own, I guess...

That's pretty subjective. I much prefer POP to IMAP, but that's just me.
