Gobsmacked!!!
Just spent the last week working on a project and have put loads of technical research and figures into my mac mail notes. I'm about to write up a report that's needed urgent tmorrow AM. I reboot my computer and reboot my brain, and go to get my notes and the notes page has disappeared.

I found this thread from sometime last year with a long list of people saying the same thing and not a mention from anyone from mac as to any solutions/appologies.

I'm just gobsmacked, winded and not sure what to do?????

well no answer!! just for those who don't want to go through what i did. i know go into my library folder > mail > mailboxes > notes and then manually copy the file. i hope to remember to periodically back up my notes. like i'm going to remember.

Hi Shane

I have never subscribed to any of these forums just viewed them. But I can feel your pain so I've joined...

The same thing happened to me over the last few days (running Snow Leopard). Luckily I only lost a small amount of data in the notes (running in MacMail). I was typing into an existing note that had a build up of content from 12 months. I only lost the new content I typed in. All today I have been trying to fix and the same thing keeps happening

I rang Apple and they suggested I make a new note and copy the content of the old note into it. It worked! I can now type in new content and it stays.

Thinking back, this exact same thing happened to me when I installed Snow Leopard and creating a new note fixed it. Maybe they have a "use by date"???

The Apple guy suggested that if the problem continued to reinstall MacMail from the CD

Anyway good luck. The note function is great for me and I couldn't find a substitute that streamlined as well with MacMail
