Safari & iTunes always "unexpectedly quit" after software update

I just did a software update to all the latest and greatest and it seems that now iTunes 9 and the new Safari do not want to stay open. Currently running OS X 10.4.11.

I tested it under a new user account (not the admin account) and they both open and function under the new one?

Here's what I've tried so far to remedy:
Reinstalled Safari and iTunes
"Reset" Safari
Un-clicked "Enable Plug-Ins" on Safari
Ran "Repair Permissions" on Disk Utility

I can only think of re-installing my OS, but really do not want to since it's working under the other user account...

Thanks!

Try deleting the preference files.

Users / your user / Library / Preferences

com.apple.Safari.plist
com.apple.iTunes.plist

move them to the desktop

log out and back in

Try installing the Combo update from here :

Apple - Downloads - Mac OS X Updates - Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (PPC)

This is also worth a shot, but if you're installing it on the computer listed in your specs, don't use that one, it is for PPC machines.

Here is the Intel combo update

Thanks for the advice to the both of you!
the combo update does not appear to have helped...booooo. (did the intel one)
I'm going to try deleting my preference files now....

Bummer. I tried deleting these prefs:

com.apple.Safari.plist
com.apple.iTunes.plist

And Safari is still giving me the below wacky message after the spinning beach ball of death. Apparently I am not able to post the code in b.c it is too long, aww shucks. To "The Mac Outlet" I fear I will be going this weekend...
