GarageBand '09: Recording Voice Problem!

Hi. This is the first time I'm trying to record my voice through GarageBand '09 and here's the problem, though I've set the track to "No Effects" my voice still sounds very low and it also moves very slow like in a slow motion.

I've never had this problem before in GarageBand '08. Anyway am a very amateur user of GarageBand so it'd much appreciated if anyone could break the step down and make it easy for me to understand.
