Mail probs

Well, I know this question has been up before but still I can't seem to find the solution.
I'm using hotmail in a pop version on my Mac's Mail app. It's been working for ages but suddenly today it stopped being able to send emails. I can still receive but not send. I'm 100% sure that I've done everything right so does anyone know what can be the problem?
I've used this explanation to set up the account.
Hope that someone can help me out here.

Can you still access your hotmail account online? Is it still accepting your username and password?

They might be having issues with their servers. It is not that uncommon. Especially with a free service.
