iPhoto Library/Catalogue

Hi There

when i switched over from my Windows PC to Mac, i created a folder called my pictures and transferred into this folder all of the pics i had on my PC.

I then imported the pics from this folder into iPhoto.

Now from what i can see, iPhoto creates it's own folder structure and saves the photos in this structure. So the question is, am i duplicating my files by keeping the "my pictures" folder? I think i am, i can delete files and folders from "my pic" but they remain in iPhoto.... just want some re-asurance

Photos imported into iPhoto are duplicated into the Pictures > iPhoto Library folder just as long as the "Copy items to the iPhoto Library" option is checked in your preferences.
If it is, you're free to delete the originals once they're done importing.
