I really hope someone can help - its stressing me out!
My Microsoft word keeps crashing, within seconds or if not minutes of opening any document. It did it first last week, and then seemed ok, but is now doing it again.

I have Microsoft Word v. X and I run on opertating system OS X, Version 10.4.11. It's a 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - a Powerbook.

I'm not a computer whizz, so let me know if you need any more info - but i would really appreciate any tips, as I'm on the other side of the world from home and can't work without it... which is a massive problem!

Thank you so much.

On an Intel based Mac to use Word v.X, which is very old software, about 2002 from memory, it is necessary to have instralled Rosetta.

Rosetta Compatibility: PowerPC Applications on Intel Macs

Also have you upgraded v.X to the latest MS release?

thanks so much, i'll install rosetta and see if that helps. No, I haven't upgraded the MS office. Is there a free upgrade online?

Maybe not. Here is the MS Word Homepage:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/default.aspx

Everything I see is more recent. Perhaps you can find contact information and send an e-mail inquiry.

Here is a link through VersionTracker to Office v.X updates which hopefully still works as MS has removed v.X updates from the Mactopia web site. The link does seem to work. It may be necessary to start prior to version 10.1.9 by clicking on the arrow:-

Microsoft Office v.X 10.1.9 software download - Mac OS X - VersionTracker
