Lost Normal view in Msword 2008 for mac

Dear All,
I cannot see normal view option under view menu in Ms Word 2008 for mac. the documents open in some other view. i just want to see my documents in normal view. i have tried to solve this problem by editing the normal.dotm file but of no vain.
Kindly suggest a proper solution if anyone knows about this issue.

Normal doesn't show up at all, or is it grayed out?

What happens if you choose one of the other available views, does it change? If you try all of the ones available, does Normal ever "reappear"?

At some point, Microsoft changed the names.

What was called "Normal" in Word 2004 is now "Draft" in Word 2008.

"Page Layout" is now "Print Layout." "Online Layout" is now "Web Layout."

when i choose one of the other available views, yes it changes the view. i have tried all of the ones available but Normal never reappear.

Do you have "Draft" as a choice? (See post from Technologist above.)

That's because there is no "normal view" as has already been stated. Your possible options include Draft, Web Layout, Outline, Print Layout, Notebook Layout and Publishing Layout.
