I know i could just run firefox and get the plugin. However, in the spirit of trying a new system id like to rock safari...

A huge high five to the one who gives me the bandaid!!

G'day and welcome to the forums.

If you are happy going into Terminal here is your answer for beta:-

» Safari 4 beta - restore progress bar and tabs placement » Silver Mac

And Safari 4:-

Didn't work for me either (Safari 4 on SL). Thanks for the post though harryb.

Frequently, if a command returns nothing (ie. you enter the command, hit enter and nothing appears to happen), the command executed successfully. It is usually only when something goes wrong that something is printed back.

Did harryb's suggestion work?

Nah, it doesn't work anymore. It doesn't return a error to std out either. I think the values simply aren't available to be manipulated anymore. Even sudo'ed or su'ed to root, the binary containing the values remains untouched. There was a bit about running "defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeInternalDebugMenu -bool YES" to re-enable changing the values, but it doesn't appear to work either.

Hmmm...despite all attempts to find a solution on the internet and look through Safari's plist files, I can't seem to find anything that will revert Safari's "loading bar". You might be out of luck here.
