Help Accessing Backups Prior to Time Machine
Help! I have a WD external hard drive for backups; but did not use Time Machine until recently, when my hard drive crashed and I had to get a new one. I started using Time Machine with my new hard drive to back up; but now, when I plug in my WD hard drive, I can only see the files that I've backed up in the last few months since using Time Machine.

How can I access the older files that I know are on the WD but are from my older hard drive and prior to using Time Machine?

    I hope I'm being clear - I'm not a techie guru :-)

    Thanks for your help!

ARe you saying you have one WD external drive that you formatted to use for TM backup that was once used as an external drive to do manual backups? if you say yes, i believe when you started using the drive for TM it formatted over any old data that was on it and you lost all the old backups.
