Please help, I have a new MacBook and when I clicked on IPhoto, it said it was either in use (which I don't know who else would be using it) or is unreadable. How do I retrieve my pictures back?

We need more information before we can help you. Were you trying to open the iPhoto app? Or were you trying to look in finder? Have you recenty upgraded/downgraded any software? What version of the OS are you running, and what version of iPhoto? What were you doing prior to the error message? What were you doing last time you used iPhoto?

The good news, is that you pictures are probably not gone, so once we unravel what else is going on, you should have your pictures.

Tell us more, and we will be glad to help.

Mary

I'm having the same problem, and it's the first time it's happened to me. I was trying to open the iPhoto app but I also looked in Finder afterwards and it still said the same thing about it being unreadable. I recently did a software upgrade on my computer, just from what it told me to do. I'm currently running Version 10.6.3 and I can't tell which version of iPhoto it is because it won't let me view it. The last time I used iPhoto was just last night because I was uploading pictures from my camera. Prior to using it just today before the error, I was browsing the Internet like any other day. Nothing unusual.
