GIFS Make Safari Lag

It didn't happen when I first got the computer but now everytime I'm on a message board with GIFs, safari will lag and freeze and so will my computer. Any ideas why>

It's Safari - it doesn't like Gifs. Try camino or chrome.

also, my girl's macbook doesnt lag or freeze with gifs..we both use safari
