My Firefox (3.5.2) is using around 180-220 MB of memory most times I use it even with just 1 tab. Is that normal? It seems like a lot. Is there anyway to reduce this to a more acceptable value? And would this be cause of a memory leak?

As a comparison I checked Safari (4.0.3) and it only uses 30-40 MB of memory. WHich seems more normal for the kind of apps there are.

How much ram do you have? I think Firefox takes a bit more ram than Safari by nature, but FF is a bit nicer in my opinion. If you only have like 256 or 512 RAM, then it's a problem. If you have 1GB or above, I think you're okay, as only about 2.2% of your RAM is being used.

As it says in my Mac Specs, I have 2GB of ram.
And thanks for your response. So nothing much here to be worried about.

Firefox is known to leak memory. Do you keep Firefox open for long periods at a time?

This might be a good read.
