I've finally reached the boiling point about this and just called Apple about it.
I have had problems recently uploading pictures from iPhoto into Facebook online, but recently switched to uploading in iPhoto. Uploading from iPhoto is slick and easy. However, I just created a twitter account and was trying to upload a picture for my profile. I went to the upload picture page on twitter and clicked 'Choose Picture' to have a finder-ish screen pop up over safari, which I expected. I then navigated to the folder my iPhoto library is stored in, only to have all of my pictures hidden (inaccessible) behind the 'iPhoto Library' file. In a normal finder window, one can right click and select 'Show Package Contents' to make the contents magically appear. However, in the Safari-finder boondoggle, it is not possible to right click and expand the package as in a normal finder window. The person (who was kind of a jerk about it) I talked on the phone with at Apple told me that they have locked this because they were receiving a lot of calls from people having trouble with iPhoto after accidentally deleting files when the iPhoto folder used to be 'unlocked'. So apparently these idiots have ruined this for the rest of us - really frustrating. I have tried everything I can, and it appears - in fact - impossible to delete any files from the safari/finder access to my folders and files. The Apple dude said that the only work-around is to export the file to a program or simply copy the picture to another folder (i.e. desktop) and upload from that directory. Doesn't it seem like we should just be able to access the file straight away? GK |

In the finder-ish screen that pops up allowing you to choose where your picture is, have you navigated further down to see if there is a choice for "Media"? I have not tried what you are trying to do, but I do know that in many apps, to compensate for the "locked" library, there is an icon for Media that will show your photos.
Otherwise, just drag the photo(s) to the desktop and get them from there for Twitter (or to wherever else you want to upload). Mary |
