pages converting word2004 documents

I have just up graded my 2003 mac power book, to the mac book, and upgraded to Pages (my word2004 was not working on the macbook). Every time I try and open a word document I get bounced to parallels, who trys to open the document WordPadMFC (but i have no graphics converter on my XP so it doesnt work to well). Any way that I can set Pages2009 as my default to open docs when on my mac, without opening pages first and then importing the document?

It should be as simple as control clicking (right clicking) on any .doc file, choosing get info, changing the "open with" to Pages and then clicking change all.
