Recently, Safari on my MacBook has not been working.

Ill try and open it, but nothing happens. It immediately locks up and I have to force quit.

I have tried searching everywhere on the internet and they all say to go into the Library/Preferences/xxxx.plist and delete the xxxx.plist file.

My problem is that I do not have that file. I have never deleted it before and there are no files that even have safari in them.

I've tried updating, re-installing, making a new user and nothing works. What am I to do?

Thanks

More than likely you are looking in the wrong Library folder.

It is not in MacIntosh HD / Library.

It will be in Users / Your User / Library.

And by making a new user - am "assuming" that you mean you created a new user account in System Preferences / Accounts and then logged into that user and it still would not work?

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.

I was looking in the wrong folder. I found it in the location that you gave, and moved it, but Safari still crashes.

In the original post, you mentioned reinstalling. I assume you mean reinstalling Safari. Have you tried reinstalling the entire OS? Do you have access to an Apple Store where you can get hands-on help?
