umm, more info about the actual error your getting would be helpful.
Have you tried connecting through ip, or just through the computer name? what happens when you try to connect? If it's saying the system is not found and if you're just doing the computer name (netbios), try adding .local to the end of it and see what happens. Hmmm...
What actual error are you getting from your RDC client? Also, as a sanity check I assume both machines can see each other and you can ping each host etc. As a test, can you turn the firewall on XP off and try again? Typically, this is the main issue I see with this sort of setup. I have a similar setup at home with no issues. |

I agree with wmprice (sorry, went to bed after my post last night).
If you can't ping, then there is a real problem. You may have to disable the firewall on the pc if you can't ping it tho - depending on the firewall software you use (earlier versions of the windows firewall blocked this by default and some third party does as well) it may block icmp, which means you won't see ping responses. It looks like, from one of your previous posts that the machines cannot see each other at all.
First things first. Find out the IP address of the XP machine. The easiest way to do this on Windows is open a command prompt and type the following: ipconfig /all This should give you the machines IP address (sorry, it's been forever since I have used windows I can't remember exactly what the output looks like). Now, from the Mac you can open a terminal and execute ping <IP-address> If this doesn't work and you don't get a response from the other host then something is wrong with your network configuration. Let's start there. |
