MacBook Pro - icon for this program will appear at random in my dock

I downloaded an application from the BuffaloTech website, and for whatever reason the app won't install. It recommends for me to restart and try again. I have tried that, as well as downloading it again. For some reason it just won't work on my computer, which is fine.

Now the problem:

The icon for this program will appear at random in my dock. When I click it, the icon disappears. I have used AppCleaner, searched my computer for it, and restarted a few times, but the icon still shows up as if the uninstalled app is running.

Does anyone know of what can cause this?
