internet and mac help

Hi there, i am new to the mac world and have only just started playing with my MacBook. i have an internet connection but one of the sites i regularly use opens one of the pages in a new window i don't seem to be able to do that now is there some way i can fix this?

Yes that can be set in Safari Preferences - how you want new pages to open.

thanks, sorry for my ignorance but i have just gotten the computer so i am still working my way around but where do i find the preferences for safari? i couldn't find it in system preferences

When Safari is the highlighted application, look at the Toolbar up top. You will see Safari. Click there and on Preferences.

The preferences for all applications that do not add an item to System Preferences (which is about 99% of them) will be located in that same place, in their own menu.
