mini - MSN messenger download folder on Desktop

I just got my first Mac its a mini and im still learning. I just downloaded MSN messenger and the download folder can not be trashed off of my desktop.
I can "eject" it but when i open messenger it comes back to the desktop.

What do i do.

I downloaded MSN Messenger and the Download folder wont go to trash.
I can close MSN then "eject" the download folder but if app re-opened the download folder appears on the desktop again.

What do i do, what is wrong?
