Hi guys-
So I want to run Vanguard on my mac 10.4.11. I have installed virtualBox with a version of XP but when I try to play Vanguard it says I am missing a Direct3D driver (which is a complicated install on a mac - and didn't work properly as a dl for windows being that it is a guest...). I am wondering if it is even possible to run vanguard through virtualbox being that it is an "emulator." Another idea I had would be to boot XP from an external harddrive although I doubt it would be practical in terms of the high latency one might experience...especially running a game that requires lots of video ram ...some thoughts on this would be awesome. The second problem I have is that I have fileVault on and only 10 GB of room left and as one might know, it will not let you turn it off until you allocate an equivalent amount of available harddrive space for it to temporarily copy to. I'm attempting with little avail to move some space around but truthfully ever since I put fileVault on, there seems to be a bunch of "mystery" used harddrive space. It would appear as if I am only actively using around 40-50 GB yet i have 10/111 GB left. Is this an artifact of this (silly) program filevault? Have others experienced this same issue? So to wrap it all up, I just really want to be able to play Vanguard here on my mac. I'm suspecting bootcamp (am secretly currently dling it and hoping it will run on my os) would be really useful for this... but until I am able to free up some HD space and get rid of filevault I am stuck. Any ideas? |

With the limitations of 3D acceleration in VMs, you won't get that game to play. Have you thought of Boot Camp (assuming you have an Intel Mac)? Here is the installation guide. You should make more space though which will be up to you.
Here are the system requirements for Boot Camp. Important Links: Community Guidelines : Use the reputation system if you've been helped. M-F Blog :: Write for the blog :: M-F IRC Channel - Chats every Sunday at 8PM EST. |

Oh wait, you're using Tiger. Sorry, I didn't pick up on that earlier.
You're out of luck in terms of Boot Camp. It's no longer supported and I'm pretty sure it was only beta for Tiger. I would recommend you don't use Boot Camp.
