Is there an up to date version of IE for OSX? All I can find on the net are some really old links to version 5. Did MS stop doing it?

I can run a windows version through parallels, but it kills my machine, I'd rather run it on OSX if I can.

Microsoft dropped development for Internet Explorer for the Mac around the time Safari was released.

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

Yeah, something like that. I had the OLD OLD OLD version (think it was 5) of IE, but compared to Safari 4 Beta, IE has some MAJOR problems. Cooes and Coys. Anyway, its only coz they stopped making new versions - they got scared that Safari would overtake IE, which in my books, it has!

OK, thanks folks.

I just need it to check for hiccups on webpages. I'll stick with the Parallels/win version.

Cool.
Mind you, I find that using IE for Mac is really tedious, as it is SO, (what's the word I'm looking for? Oh yes, that's it) -- Complicated. Dpn't know why, it just isn't simple.

Regards.

I was able to get IE 8 to run on my macbook using crossover.Windows Applications Seamlessly Integrated on Mac OS X - CrossOver Mac Try that link. It does cost a little, but it works for those site that must use IE. Might be worth checking out. Also, one hiccup you might run into is I'm pretty sure it only works with Intel based computers. Not sure what you're using. Hope it helps.

Why would you want to run IE anyway (especially on a Mac)?

There is no system but GNU and Linux is one of its kernels.

Unfortunately, there's still quite a few sites out there that are IE-only.

I was thinking that might be the reason. There's a Firefox extension called User Agent Switcher that the OP might be interested in

for web development. You have to make sure your webpages look right on all browsers. I don't use IE for browsing, but a lot of other people do.

To the OP - I use Parallels for my occasional Windows needs. Not sure which version you have, but Parallels 4 gives a huge speed bump over 3, because it uses multi-processors... You only really need to allow 256MB for IE testing on Parallels.

The Mac version of IE used a completely different rendering engine than the Windows version.

If you're wanting it to test design and layout, you need to use the Windows version anyway.
