help removing widget from dashboard

does anyone know how to remove a widget from the dashboard? i don't want to disable the dashboard, i just want to keep certain widgets from appearing when i open it.

Go to the dashboard, click the ' + ' sign at the bottom left, close the widgets you no longer need.
