Scanning Problem

Every time I try to scan something, the program crashes and I get a message that says "the application HP Scan Pro quit unexpectedly." This happens every time.
I have a HP Photosmart C4280. I've already uninstalled everything and then reinstalled it using the downloads from HP.com

Before trying to start that, start up the Console.app in the Utilities folder. That application might give some hints to as why the error is occurring.
