My Macbook came pre-installed with a range of Intego software such as 'Netbarrier X5', "Virus barrier X5" and "Personal Backup X5".

Clearly I don't need these things, they are just a waste of resources, so I dragged the Intego folder from my applications into the recycle bin and emptiedit

However there are still remnants of the files, even after restarting, such as the taskbar utility that seem to be here. How can I get rid of all of these?

Thanks, Alex

Probably re-install it and use it's uninstaller will be the simplest.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.

OS X, I don't use bootcamp.

Does that comments regarding reinstalling and using an uninstaller still stand?

I have never personally worked with Intego Virus Software but I have a feeling Bobtomay is correct and there just might be an Uninstaller that would take out all of it.

Edit, I just confirmed the above. Reinstall with the installer and use the Uninstall option. If you do not have the installer, you can download it here. Another person on another forum had your exact issue and that is how they got rid of it.

|MG| Free Download for Macs - Intego VirusBarrier X4 10.5.6

That is for the Virus Barrier software anyway.
