Hey everyone, I'm new to mac-forums but I had a few questions.
Yesterday, I used bootcamp to install Windows XP Home Edition on my white 13-inch macbook. Everything went smoothly and after I booted into Windows I used the leopard install disk for the drivers. I then customized my windows settings, appearance, etc. After, I thought I'd download the EverQuest II to see how it ran. But to preface this, I used to play EQ2 on my old desktop, which is definitely not as nice as this computer. It had 512mb and a decent video card and processor. I have 1gb so I believed my framerate would be better and things like that. I left it up over night to download, wake up and launch it. It opens up and automatically puts me on to the "Extreme Performance" profile, trying to make it run better. I had to be running only 5-8 fps. Then I tweaked the settings, all the way down, just to see. I ran about 12 fps. This is strange to me because on my desktop in starting areas of EQII I run around 25 fps and it isn't even a nice computer. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or if it has something to do with me playing it via bootcamp. Anyway, any help would be much appreciated. |

The problem is your old desktop had better graphics and more graphic memory than your MacBook. No question about your white MacBook being a better all around and faster machine, however, the white MacBook models (mine is the same) use an Intel integrated GPU and shares memory from the system.
The newer aluminum unibody MacBook is better suited to play graphic intensive games as it uses a more powerful nVidia GPU with additional memory. Regards. |

Not a stupid question. Apple does not accept trade ins for a new machine. However, Apple machines hold their value very well and can generally be sold quickly through one of the many sales outlets available to you.
Local green sheet ads, Craig's list, bulletin board at school, etc. Check around first to see what the going price is. Regards. |
