iLife - iPhoto: deactivation of camera-downloading

I really can't seem to turn off the function that iPhoto starts up every time I connect my camera. I've decided to stop using iPhoto for every single picture I take...

Anybody out there who knows how to deactivate this startup?

iPhoto>Preferences>General Tab - There should be something under there about when you plug in your camera, I suggest using Image Capture, allows you to select which pictures you want, as well as do some automated tasks with them after downloading(like make a web page out of them..entirely..it's reall quite cool)

ahh! wonderful! I found out that you configure the opening sequence in the Image Capture prog, not Preferences in iPhoto. And the features of IC is excellent then! thanks a million, man!
