Internet - MAIL...oddity

I have one client and one only that sends me email upon which it slows the whole program to a crawl. I cannot reply efficiently and I cannot even close down the program quickly. All other clients mail works without issue. What gives?

Is this client sending attachments or using tons of HTML/Pictures/etc?

No, it doesn't seem to matter what he sends...could be just text.
