Ok, I am still new to the forum and don't really know where to look to find the answer to my question. So if there are already threads on this topic, I do apologize, and feel free to send me in the right direction.

I have experienced a significant slow down in browsing speed. I have 10mb dsl internet here and I am using the latest versions of safari and firefox. My browsing speed used to be lighting fast but now there are up to 10 second wait times between webpages. I've confirmed my speed on speedtest.net and I'm getting like 9.2mb but still browsing speeds are slow.

I understand that spyware and viruses are nonexistent for the mac but I did however install a program from an unnamed adult website. My plan was to uninstall it if it had a negative effect, but I could never find it to remove it. I've checked in the apps folder and even searched using flash light. In fact I've looked for it in every folder I can think of. My assumption is that this program is what is causing my slow browsing speed, like spyware would for a pc. Just wondering if you guys have any advice on troubleshooting this situation before I have to go to the apple store and talk about this in front of apples customers. Thanks for any help.

You should try using Camino - It is a browser developed by Mozilla (like Firefox) but specifically for the Mac. It is alot faster and gives better performance then Firefox for Mac and Safari.

15.4" Apple Unibody Macbook Pro Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.4), 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB 1066Mz DDR3 SDRAM (2x2GB), 128GB Solid State Drive (SSD), NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT with 512MB, SuperDrive 8X - Apple Remote Infrared (IR) - Logitech MX Performance 2.4 GHz Wireless - Apple Keyboard Bluetooth - iPhone 4 32GB, Black
