my address book deleted all my contacts

Yesterday I was syncing my iphone and I noticed that my addressbook was empty and my iphone frozen I disconnected it and plugged in again to recover my info from my iphone to my macbook, then BOOM!!! everything was gone I lost all my contacts... now my address book is empty and I never backed it up... can anybody help me to recover my info or just tell my what went wrong, pleaseee??? TKS A LOT A.
