Mail (pop3) and my iPhone

I have a work pop3 email account which I was using constantly via Mail on my Mac. It was fine until I got my 16GB iPhone, I had to go work away from home in the middle of nowhere. The only way I could pick up emails was via my phone. This was only intended for until I bought a 3G data card to get myself access via my machine. I now have a 3G data card but i've gone a week without checking my emails via my machine.

I now can receive emails via my phone but not on my machine.

Can i get both to update at the same time?

any help would be brilliant.
