music composer

hello. im looking for free music composing software or a plugin for garage band that i can compose music in, i want to be able to 1) click and drag notes to a staff, 2) 0r scan music and have it play that current track.

Have you tried Finale Notepad? Finale Music Composing & Notation Software I believe it's free, or at least you get a trial with it. I've certainly used it, also AppleWorks, which does a good job, although it's time-consuming. Then there's Encore and Sibelius, neither of which are free though.
