NeoOffice or OpenOffice?

Which is better for most operations similar to that of powerpoint and word?

Also, are either of them fully compatible with windows machines?

Both are compatible with Office... I personally prefer NeoOffice because OpenOffice requires X11 which can be a little testy at times. But they both can be used...

neither is comparable to word. I really hope pages is improved sooner rather than later. I would agree with using Neooffice though.. sometimes issues arise with openoffice.
