After doing alot of research and giving Bill Gates $20 for a hotmail plus account I should be able to send and receive emails with Apple Mail but im having problems. I can receive emails however I when I try to send I get an error saying my SMTP settings are not set. Not sure whats wrong. Please help.

Settings:
OSX 10.5.3
Using a hotmail PLUS account

Account type: POP
Incoming Mail Server: pop3.live.com
User Name: myemail@live.com
Password: myhotmailpassword

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.live.com:myemail@live.com
'Use only this server' is checked.
Server Port: 25
'Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)' is checked
Authentication: Password
User Name: myemail@live.com
Password: myhotmailpassword

Advanced:
Port: 995
Use SSL is checked
Authentication: Password

For those that will suggest httpmail, i tried it, I believe it no longer works.

fixed my own problem. The message which was sitting in my outbox was linked to older settings that were not correct. I deleted the message and made a new one and it worked.
