Ichat on leopard 10.5.2

Hi everyone,
After working with Windows for nearly 20 years, I switched to a Mac.
Bought my MBP yesterday !
Question I have is how to chat with my children when I am travelling.

They all use MSN to chat and I was wondering if I can use Ichat or do I need something else ?

Please forgive my ignorance on this subject, I am all new to Mac.

Any input will be much appreciated.

MSN Messenger for Mac
It's based on an older version, and has no video or audio function. However it's lightweight and I think it's easy to use and comfortable to look at (tho the Send button is enormous). Supposedly MS is working on a new version, though it likely will not be out for a long time.

The only MSN compatible app I've gotten working with video is Mercury (http://www.mercury.im/ ). However it's a cross-platform app, and as such it's not very Mac-like and it's kinda slow. It also relies on Java, and eats up a lot of RAM.

You might also try Adium. It goes to all the IM platforms and is easy to use.

another vote for adium, u'll love it, its customizable, and i find that i dont have all the emoticon spam/crap that ruins a convo.
