I have just brought a new Macbook (before on windows XP) and I want to install a graphics program like gimp.
Can you please tell me what is the best free graphics program for macintosh?

A lot of people use Pixelmator, the cheap alternative to Photoshop. Not sure about free stuff though. If you are comfortable with Gimp, you can install that as well.

Given your conditions, it would have to be Gimp. The easiest way to install it on Mac OS X is found here:

http://darwingimp.sourceforge.net/

Have fun. Just be sure you have the latest X11 installed (which you should if you're using OS X 10.5.2 like the new computers come with).

similar thread, and a few suggestions. But mainly Gimp is what people are saying for free graphics software.
