When I try to create a new contact and type in the name any key I press results in "dfgdfgdfgdfgdfgdfg" appearing and I am also unable to edit notes for contacts in address book. Anyone know why this is or how I might solve it?

Thanks,
Kerry

Welcome to Mac-Forums, KerryK.

It isn't a bug in the app, otherwise we would see a whole lot more posts like yours. Looks more like a problem on your end, some kind of corruption.

Have you tried dragging to the trash the Address Book pref files ? I am running OS X 10.4.11 Tiger and see there are two pref files associated with Address Book.

The path is this :

Macintosh HD -> Users -> your user account -> Library -> Preferences -> com.apple.AddressBook.plist and com.apple.AddressBook.abd.plist.

Simply drag those two files to the trash, don't empty it yet. Restart. See if the problem is fixed.

Report back so we can know how it went. Good luck !
