Burning an iso using DU

I am trying to burn a large iso file to a Dual Layer DVD (DVD+R) so that it is bootable for future reference. My macbook is, according to the specs, capable of doing this. Yet when i click "burn" in DU, i get the message:

Unable to burn "...iso". the device is not supported for the requested operation.

I have a Matshita DVD-R UJ-857 drive. Am i using the wrong disk or is my drive faulty. I get a similar message in Toast and Burn.

Any ideas, settings i need to adjust, programs, drivers?

The drive might not be supported for burning from within FInder, you can get that information from System Profiler under Disc Burning, it should say something like "Burn Support Yes" if it says "Burn Support No" you may need to get a supported drive......

I see why from here, your burner doesn't do DL.....like mine in my eMac.....

Don't think you can burn DL discs.

Doesn't have +R DL at the end like mine.
