Remote Desktop Connection Client 1.0.3 for Mac OS X
If I use this and connect to a windows based pc, am I open to all the viruses and crap that comes with Windows?

You should not be. The virus' will attack Windows, not Mac OS X. All you are doing is viewing the Windows desktop from your Mac, not actually running the Windows OS and applications. They stay safely on the Windows box.
